Resumen de La formación de los directores de fotografía de cine en España (2001-2016)

  El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la formación y el acceso a la profesión de una muestra de los directores de fotografía de la industria del cine español. ¿Es la cinematography un oficio o un arte? ¿Se puede aprender de forma autodidacta y con la práctica profesional? ¿O requiere de una formación ordenada en materias artísticas, técnicas y humanísticas? Esta investigación muestra donde se formaron, y con qué edad accedieron a hacer largometrajes, operadores que han colaborado en películas relevantes del cine español entre 2001 y 2016. Los datos surgen de entrevistas personales y análisis bibliográfico. Se reflexiona también sobre el cambio generacional y tecnológico que ha tenido lugar en el periodo. Desafiando a los escépticos con las instituciones educativas, se concluye que hay una relación directa entre dichas escuelas y facultades y el acceso a los proyectos industrial y artísticamente más prestigiosos: los largometrajes de ficción.

  This research explores where top cinematographers, working in Spain ́s film industry,have received their training, and reflects about the time needed to breakthrough to their first creditin a feature film. ¿Is cinematography an art form, or a craft which could be learned through prac-tice? ¿Is there a need for a proper technical, humanistic and artistic higher education? From 2001 until 2016, eighty-seven films visually relevant for the public and the Academy in Spain, have been chosen and forty-one cinematographers identified. Through deep interviews and data collection we will reveal how they became feature film cinematographers and the changes in their craft after the digitalization of cinema. The results shall challenge those who are sceptical about attending film school in order to obtain a prestigious career and being elected to photograph the most successful films in the industry.
