    Sobre todo a partir de 1955, se originó en Italia un amplio interés por la obra de Ortega y Gasset, que confluyó en un más extenso debate sobre el papel de las élites culturales europeas. Dada la amplitud del tema, en este artículo se analizarán las reflexiones de dos de sus más importantes lectores de aquella época: Nicola Chiaramonte y Elémire Zola. Desde las páginas de la revista "Tempo presente" (1956)- el primero- y en el libro "Eclissi dell'intellettuale" (1959)- el segundo - ambos pensadores dialogan con Ortega para ofrecer interesantes claves de lectura sobre la crisis de los intelectuales.

    A broader interest in the work of Ortega y Gasset has surged in Italy, especially since 1955, which led to a wider debate on the role of European cultural elites. Given the ample scope of the topic, this article will analyse the thinking of two of its most important readers of that time: Nicola Chiaramonte and Elémire Zola. From the pages of the magazine "Tempo presente" (1956)- the first- and in the book "Eclissi dell'intellettuale" (1959) - the second - both thinkers dialogue with Ortega to offer interesting reading keys on the crisis of intellectuals
