    The article reconsiders the tradition of the Italian version of Pope’s The Rape of the Lock whose first draft was produced by Antoni Conti in 1724, and then revised after his return to Italy for publication in his Prose e poesie. Based on the most significant variations of the direct and indirect witnesses, the conclusions reached by Giovanna Gronda are corrected. In particular, the new findings concern the role of the ms. Bocchi 58 of Treviso Municipal Library, and, moreover, the overall history of the text, that is, the moments and times of the author’s corrections.

    L’articolo riconsidera la tradizione della versione del Riccio rapito compiuta in prima stesura nel 1724 da Antonio Conti, poi rielaborata dopo il suo rientro in Italia in vista della stampa delle Prose e poesie. Sulla base dei luoghi varianti più significativi dei testimoni, diretti e indiretti, vengono corrette le conclusioni a cui era giunta Giovanna Gronda. In particolare per quanto riguarda la posizione del ms. Bocchi 58 della Comunale di Treviso, e, inoltre, la fisionomia complessiva della tradizione del volgarizzamento, vale a dire i momenti e i tempi degli interventi variantistici.
