This paper uses the biblical image of the giant with feet of clay as a metaphor that synthetizes the content of ali contributions prescnted whitin this Symposium. A parallelism between the problems afforded -demands for excellence, iooses of meaning because of knowledge fragmentation and disconnection with social needs- and the materials of the statue is established. Finally a conclusion is made: ln order to take root for our teaching and researching activitics we have 1 o look at Psychology at the same time that she looks at society.
