  • Resumen
    • The article surveys the use of programmed learning in Africa. The hopes expressed for its widespread use and for its effectiveness in overcoming the problems faced by education in Africa are contrasted with the limited use of programs to date. The need for revalidating programs produced outside Africa and of constructing programs in the light of the learning problems of African pupils is stressed, together with the need for a co‐ordinated program of research. Permanent centres are needed to secure the widespread use of programs in African countries. The writer's work with programs in Malawi, and in training student teachers in their use and construction, is briefly described.
