Resumen
This article tries to answer the following question: what should be shown on the screen when the information to be presented cannot be illustrated? The effect upon learning of the following modes of presentation is experimentally investigated 1. Presentation of textual information in sound and picture 2. Presentation of textual information by the moderator on the screen 3. Presentation of textual information in sound while the screen is empty 4. Presentation of textual information in picture without sound Results: 1>2>3>4, the total variance being highly significant (p<0.01). The differences were not significant between modes 1‐2 and 3‐4; very significant (p<0.01) between modes 1‐4 and 2‐4; significant (p<0.05) between modes 1‐3 and 2‐3.
The bimodal (audial + visual) presentation proves to be superior to the unimodal (audial or visual). Audial presentation by the moderator on the screen produces more effective learning than any other unimodal presentation and it is not significantly less effective than bimodal presentation.
