The official cinema produced during the first Gomezism and the first Francoism, fulfilled a clear propagandistic purpose, so we can study them as texts in which the State makes society, territory and itself readable. In this article, I incorporate a conceptual framework from Political Sciences to the study of official cinema, with the purpose of including specific notions that help to understand the interaction between the State and the cinema during the establishment of authoritarian regimes.
