China e India en el Himalaya: ¿una nueva etapa?

    Los últimos enfrentamientos entre China e India son consecuencia y culminación de los encontronazos que suelen tener a lo largo de la línea de control real (LCR), desde hace años, debido a la no demarcación común de la frontera y al aumento de infraestructuras en la zona. Además, el contexto en el que se desarrollan está dominado por el cambio en las dinámicas de la relación bilateral, la impronta de Xi Jinping en la política exterior china y en una serie de elementos que tensionan la cuerda entre ambos países. Ante esta situación, parece que estamos a las puertas de una nueva etapa en la que India tendrá que calibrar sus opciones frente a China, encontrando un equilibrio entre reaccionar ante el comportamiento agresivo de Pekín para impedir ulteriores ocupaciones de territorios disputados y oxigenar la economía para tener más margen de maniobra en futuras negociaciones.

    The latest standoffs between China and India are a consequence and culmination of the clashes that have long occurred along the LAC (Line of Actual Control) for years due to the inexistence of a common demarcation of the border and the increase of infrastructure in the area. Furthermore, the context in which they develop is dominated by the change in the dynamics of the bilateral relationship, Xi Jinping's imprint on Chinese foreign policy, and a series of elements that tighten the rope between the two countries. Due to this evolving state of affairs and increased tensions, it appears that India is facing a new stage in which it will have to calibrate its options vis-à-vis China, finding a balance between reacting to the aggressive behaviour of Beijing to prevent further occupation of disputed territories and stimulating the economy to have more room for manoeuvre in future negotiations.
