  La agricultura es una de las actividades del sector primario que genera beneficios para otros sectores. La gramínea está presente en la dieta alimenticia de los ecuatorianos. Por este motivo existen varias zonas productoras dedicados al cultivo de este producto, el cual es destinado a satisfacer la demanda interna del país. La investigación se realizó en la localidad de Juan Bautista Aguirre se encuentra ubicada en la provincia del Guayas. La principal actividad económica de la localidad Juan Bautista Aguirre es la siembra de arroz. El objetivo del artículo fue diagnosticar la situación socioeconómica de los agricultores del sector arrocero y sus familias. Se utilizó un enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo de investigación. Ello permitió descubrir mediante la observación directa y una encuesta detectar las principales falencias que afectan el nivel de vida de los productores de arroz: insuficiencias en los servicios básicos, deterioro ambiental del entorno, poco apoyo de las autoridades locales, entre otras. Con la investigación se propuso un plan de acción a tomar en cuenta por las autoridades locales y nacionales con vistas a mejorar las condiciones socioeconómicas de los pobladores que constituyen el objeto práctico de esta investigación.

  Agriculture is one of the activities of the primary sector that generates benefits for other sectors. The grass is present in the food diet of Ecuadorians. For this reason, there are several production areas dedicated to the cultivation of this product, which is intended to satisfy the country's internal demand. The investigation was carried out in the town of Juan Bautista Aguirre, which is located in the province of Guayas. The main economic activity of the Juan Bautista Aguirre locality is the sowing of rice. The objective of the article was to diagnose the socioeconomic situation of the farmers of the rice sector and their families. A quantitativeand qualitative research approach was used. This allowed discovering through direct observation and a survey to detect the main shortcomings that affect the living standards of rice producers: insufficiencies in basic services, environmental deterioration of the environment, little support from local authorities, among others. The research proposed an action plan to be taken into account by local and national authorities with a view to improving the socioeconomic conditions of the residents who constitute the practical object of this research.
