    • Today, the Deep Western Boundary Current (DWBC) off the Kerguelen-Plateau is one of the most important route for deep-water entering the Indian Ocean. Only few attempts have been undertaken to reconstruct late Quaternary bottom-water dynamics of the DWBC. Here we present a high-resolution record of bottom water variability from a sediment core recovered from a contourite drift along the eastern flank of the Kerguelen-Plateau.

      Large-scale changes in deep water circulation in the Indian sector of the Antarctic Ocean during the last 140 ka are associated with the formation of Antarctic Bottom Water (AABW) in the Mertz Glacier Polynya (MGP) on the Adélie Coast and show not a clear glacial/interglacial pattern.
