  A partir de nuevos datos de campo se constata la presencia de una tectónica extensional de edad Ordovícico superior en el Pirineo oriental. Se trata de un conjunto de fallas normales que cortan la parte inferior de la serie del Ordovícico superior, la discordancia basal de esta serie sobre el Cambroordovícico y la serie cambroordovícica infrayacente. El desplazamiento de las fallas disminuye hacia la parte alta y acaba en la parte superior de la serie del Ordovícico superior, siendo las fallas fosilizadas por la formación Estana de edad ashgilliense.

  Late Ordovician extensional tectonics has been documented in the Eastern Pyrenees using new field data. A set of normal faults affecting the lower part of the Upper Ordovician series, the basal unconformity and the underlying Cambro-Ordovician sediments are described. Displacement of the faults progressively diminishes upwards and dies out in the upper part of the Upper Ordovician rocks, indicating that faults become inactive during the Late Ordovician, before deposition of the Ashgillian Estana Fm.
