  • Resumen
    • This article describes an attempt to apply the principles of programmed learning to the production and presentation of a videotaped recording. The tape was concerned with four common X‐ray procedures and its teaching objective was to enable student nurses to answer patients’ questions about these procedures. An independent criterion test reflected a number of inadequacies in the tape and enabled modifications to be made before a final version was released. Various ways of presenting the tape to students were tried and the most effective involved stopping the tape at frequent intervals for the students to make responses to questions in a booklet, with immediate feedback being provided. The implications of this research for educational television are discussed.
