    This presented and commented upon selection of works by various Catalanspeaking authors allows the reader to learn more about the world of the Catalan youth from two different, yet complementary, perspectives. On the one hand, a general view of the youth of today and related topics are presented, as well as sociolinguistic information about the entire population of the Catalan-speaking territories. On the other hand, specific studies – mainly doctoral theses – analyzing specific questions about linguistic aspects, opinions, linguistic attitudes and uses, in different areas related to particular youth groups in specific areas of the Catalan-speaking territory, are commented upon. Finally, an overview is given of prospects that these specialists see for the future of the Catalan language.

    Die vorliegende kommentierte Auswahl von Arbeiten katalanischer Autoren soll den Lesern ein Bild über die katalanische Jugendwelt aus zwei unterschiedlichen Perspektiven bieten. Einerseits werden allgemeinere Werke über aktuelle Jugendthematiken dargestellt, in denen auch soziolinguistische Daten der Gesamtgesellschaft aufbereitet werden. Andererseits geht es um Einzelstudien, vor allem Dissertationen, welche konkrete Fragestellungen zu sprachlichen Aspekten, Spracheinstellungen und Sprachgebrauch in verschiedenen jugendlichen Bevölkerungsgruppen in einzelnen Gebieten des katalanischen Sprachraums behandeln. Der Beitrag schließt mit einem Überblick über die Aussagen zu den Zukunftsperspektiven der katalanischen Sprache, wie sie von den behandelten Autoren gemacht werden.
