This article analyses the correction work carried out by Charles Nodier,one of the most important French lexicographers of the 19th century, as editor oftheDictionnaire universel de la langue française(1834) by P. C-V. Boiste, also knownas thePan-Lexique. Based on a selection of entries from Nodier’sExamen critiquedes dictionnaires de la langue française(1828), where he critically commented onthe different editions of Boiste’s dictionary (1800, 1803, 1812 and 1823), we studywhether Nodier followed his own recommendations and corrected these entries inhis work as editor of thePan-Lexique(1834).
