La oportunidad de investigar un patrimonio integral El caso del Cerro Coberteras de Rivas Vaciamadrid

    El 29 de julio de 2015 se produjo un grave incendio en el paraje de los cortados de Casa Eulogio, en Rivas Vaciamadrid; una zona con una gran riqueza y diversidad de flora y fauna protegida, y que ha sido calificada como «reserva integral» dentro del Parque Regional del Sureste de la Comunidad de Madrid. Ese territorio no es únicamente importante por la diversidad biológica y geológica que alberga, sino también por los vestigios patrimoniales de los diferentes periodos históricos que en él han coexistido. La voracidad de las llamas ha hecho que toda la zona y, sobre todo, el denominado «espolón de Rivas» (cota 627)» se encuentren sin la protección natural de la flora silvestre pretérita, aflorando cuantiosos restos materiales que datan desde el Paleolítico (utensilios de sílex), la Edad de Bronce (cerámica), hasta la Guerra Civil Española (trincheras, puestos de escuadra, etc.). En la presente comunicación deseamos presentar los primeros estudios que se han realizado sobre el estado en el que se encuentra la zona. Consideramos que justo ahora es el mejor momento para realizar un estudio arqueológico y patrimonial riguroso. Una oportunidad para impulsar un catálogo de los Bienes del Municipio de Rivas Vaciamadrid, de acrecentar el acervo de la Comunidad de Madrid y de potenciar las investigaciones sobre los diferentes periodos históricos y las culturas que habitaron nuestra región.

    On July 29, 2015, there was a serious fire in the site of the cuts of Casa Eulogio, in Rivas Vaciamadrid; an area with a great wealth and diversity of flora and fauna protected, and that has been described as “integral reservation” within the Regional Park of the Southeast of the Community of Madrid. This territory is not only important because of the biological and geological diversity it hosts, but also because of the heritage traces of the different historical periods that have coexisted in it. The voracity of the flames has caused the whole area and, above all, the so-called “Rivas spur” (dimension 627) to be found without the natural protection of the past wild flora, revealing large material remains dating from the Paleolithic period, the Bronze Age (pottery), to the Spanish Civil War (trenches, squadron posts, etc.). In the present communication we wish to present the first studies that have been carried out on the state in which the area is located. We believe that right now is the best time to carry out a rigorous archaeological and patrimonial study.
