Resumen de Riesgos, vulnerabilidad y patrimonio. Huracanes y museos en Cuba en el siglo XXI

  Debido a su ubicación geográfica en el Mar Caribe, sus características geomorfológicas y su clima, Cuba es amenazada cada año por los huracanes, eventos hidrometeorológicos extremos que provocan situaciones de desastre en el país, pues afectan el acontecer cotidiano de su población e impactan negativamente en su desarrollo socioeconómico. Dada la larga experiencia en la organización para la reducción de desastres provocados por fenómenos naturales, en el territorio nacional existen investigaciones y estadísticas actualizadas sobre la incidencia de estos organismos atmosféricos, el cálculo de las pérdidas materiales y la inversión gubernamental en la etapa recuperativa. Sin embargo, no abundan estudios que analicen esta realidad en el contexto del patrimonio cultural y los museos. ¿Cuál ha sido el impacto de los huracanes en los museos cubanos? ¿Cómo se preparan estas instituciones patrimoniales ante el paso inminente de los huracanes por la Isla? El artículo pretende llenar ese vacío dando respuestas a dichas interrogantes.

  Due to its geographical location in the Caribbean Sea, its geomorphological characteristics and its climate, Cuba is threatened every year by hurricanes, extreme hydrometeorological events that cause disaster situations in the country, affecting the daily situation of its population and negatively impacting its socio-economic development. Given the long experience in the organization for the reduction of disasters caused by natural phenomena, there is updated research and statistics in the national territory on the impact of these atmospheric organisms, the calculation of material losses and government investment in the recovery stage. However, there is no a great breakfast of studies that analyse this reality in the context of cultural heritage and museums. What has been the impact of hurricanes on Cuban museums? How do these heritage institutions prepare for the imminent passage of hurricanes around the island? The article aims to fill that gap by answering these questions.
