Resumen de Sprache als Werkzeug im nation-building: Die sprachnationalistischen Bewegungen Norwegens und Kataloniens in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts

  Aquest article descriu l’origen i el desenvolupament del pensament nacionalista a Noruega i Catalunya durant el segle XIX. El seu objectiu és mostrar que dues regions europees geogràficament i culturalment força llunyanes van experimentar processos molt similars gairebé alhora. Mitjançant una aproximació comparativa, l’article aborda el sorgiment dels conceptes de nació i cultura com un nou focus d’interès per petits grups d’intel∙lectuals, que es basaven en idees de pensadors com Herder i Fichte. L’objectiu, doncs, és mostrar com aquests conceptes principalment “romàntics”, o més aviat culturals, van comportar el desenvolupament de programes polítics i la petició d’independència i alliberament dels poders centrals (Espanya/Castella i Dinamarca) en el transcurs del temps. L’èmfasi de l’article se centra en l’anàlisi dels conceptes del llenguatge i la seva (suposada) història com una de les eines de justificació preferides i més potents per a la delimitació i la descripció de la història i cultura veritables en el discurs dels intel∙lectuals noruecs i catalans.

  This article describes the origin and development of nationalistic thinking in Norway and Catalonia in the course of the 19th century. It aims at showing that two geographically and culturally quite distant European regions underwent very similar processes almost at the same time. Using a comparative approach, the article discusses the rise of the concepts of nation and culture as a new interest of small groups of intellectuals, based on ideas of thinkers like Herder and Fichte. It aims at showing how these foremost “romantic”, or rather cultural concepts led to political programmes and the cry for independence and liberation of central powers (Spain/Castile and Denmark) in the course of time. The focus lies on the analysis of concepts of language and their (assumed) history as one of the favourite and most powerful justification tools for delimitation and the description of own genuine history and culture in the discourse of Norwegian and Catalan intellectuals.
