Resumen de Sevilla contra el Guadalquivir: el Plan Brackenbury y las defensas del barrio de Triana contra las inundaciones (1927-1953)

El presente artículo trata sobre las diferentes medidas llevadas a cabo por el Ayuntamiento y la Junta de Obras desde principios del siglo XX hasta mediados de dicha centuria para salvaguardar a los muelles y habitantes de Triana de las continuas inundaciones del Guadalquivir. Se analizan las causas que originan los desbordamientos en esta región y algunas de las actuaciones infructuosamente llevadas a cabo en la ciudad hasta la ejecución del Plan Brackenbury, que alejó para siempre las riadas del popular barrio hispalense.

This article deals with the different measures carried out by the City Council and the Works Board from the beginning of the 20th century until the middle of said century to safeguard the docks and inhabitants of Triana from the continuous flooding of the Guadalquivir. The causes that cause the overflows in this region and some of the actions unsuccessfully carried out in the city until the execution of the Brackenbury Plan, which forever separated the floods of the popular Hispanic neighborhood, are analyzed.
