A chronological and statistical study of the internal laminated structure of speleothems from the Ortigosa de Cameros Caves (Northern Spain) provides a paleoclimatic sequence characterized by high-frequency cycles during Holocene times. The chronology is constrained by U/Th (7.6 ± 0.7ka) and radiocarbon dates (3400 ± 600, 1200 ± 400 and 700 ± 350 14C yr B.P). Based on the statistical study of stalagmite laminae thickness and considering a seasonal growth pattern in the development of the internal lamination, different pluri-annual cycles (14.5-13.3, 9.7, 8.0-7.8, 6.1-5.6and 2.4 years) are identified and their possible correlation with high-frequency climatic cycles is investigated.
