  • Resumen
    • The combined presence of both Therangospodus and Megalosauripus has been widely documented in Upper Jurassic sediments from North America and Asia. These ichnogenera have been foundalso in Europe, but not in the same sedimentary basins. However in the Berriasian outcrops fromthe region of Tierras Altas (Huérteles Formation), in the Soria province, north-central Spain, recentresearch has proved that some theropod tracks already described, and some others not yet described, could belong to the ichnogenus Megalosauripus. This fact has been confirmed by a trackwayform La Matecasa locality, in the hamlet of Bretún, belonging to the Villar del Rio village. The presence of Therangospodus has also been documented in the area of Villar del Rio, in the Fuente-salvo locality and several other undescribed localities. Thus the presence of Therangospodus andMegalosauripus in the Berriasian of Soria represents not only the first presence of this ichnologicalassemblage in Europe, but also in the Lower Cretaceous. This presence could indicate that a Jurassic relict fauna survived in the Iberian Plate after Pangea's break-up at the end of Jurassic.
