    Varón de 58 años que acude a la consulta de atención primaria refiriendo hematuria autolimitada y monosintomática el día anterior, sin conferirle demasiada importancia porque se encontraba muy bien. No tiene antecedentes médicos ni quirúrgicos de interés, exfumador de 10 cigarrillos/día hasta hace 5-6 años. Mediante la anamnesis, exploración física y esencialmente gracias a la oportunidad de la ecografía en consulta, se realiza una aproximación diagnóstica precoz. Se identificó en la imagen ecográfica un tumor renal, posteriormente confirmado y etiquetado como hipernefroma. Debido a esta anticipación diagnóstica el paciente recibió tratamiento más temprano, precisó una menor estancia hospitalaria y experimentó una evolución más favorable.

    A 58 year old man who came to the primary care consultation reporting self-limited and monosymptomatic hematuria the day before, without giving it too much importance because he felt very well. He has no medical or surgical background of interest. He smoked 10 cigarettes/day up to 5-6 years ago. Based on the anamnesis, physical examination and essentially thanks to the opportunity of the ultrasound in the medical office, an approximate early diagnostic was made. A kidney tumor was identified in the ultrasound image, which was subsequently confirmed and labeled as hypernephroma. Due to this early diagnosis, the patient received very early treatment. He required a shorter hospital stay and experienced a more favorable evolution.
