Resumen de Práticas de violência simbólica da cultura de dominação masculina: uma interpretação comportamentalista

  There is a trend of studies emphasizing the possibility of debates on gender and feminism within the theoretical scope of Behavior Analysis, which aim to understand, among other aspects, the masculine domination system. According to Bourdieu, the practices of symbolic violence would have an important role in maintaining the culture of masculine domination, since it would be more difficult to deal with this type of violence, given its subtle and unconscious character. The lasting and historical character of masculine domination, implying a temporality that goes beyond the life span of the individual, provides elements to discuss masculine domination as a culture from a behavioral perspective. The Skinnerian notion of culture might be understood within the structure of the three-term contingency, constituted by context, practices and cultural consequences. This article examines some examples of symbolic violence practices according to the cultural three-term contingency, such as: division of spaces and activities between genders, femininity downgrading, beauty patterns conformity, and practices related to sexuality. The context in which these practices occur is, to a large extent, the product of social control exercised by the controlling agencies and sub-agencies that reproduce and perpetuate practices of symbolic violence through several behavioral processes, such as differential reinforcement and ethical control, which provide men with greater control and access to important social reinforcers. These practices are maintained for consequences favorable to the survival of the masculine domination culture, benefiting some groups, such as the controlling agencies (commanded mainly by men), through the maintenance of a hierarchical system of power and male privileges. Analyzing masculine domination as a culture implies abandoning essentialist conceptions, while highlighting the need to emphasize the political dimension in the study of culture in Behavior Analysis.

  Debates sobre gênero e feminismo têm aparecido cada vez mais no escopo teórico da abordagem comportamentalista, enfatizando a importância de examinar as contingências culturais que mantêm a dominação masculina em vigor. Segundo Bourdieu, as práticas de violência simbólica desempenhariam um papel importante na manutenção da cultura de dominação masculina, uma vez que esse tipo violência seria mais difícil de ser combatido, dado seu caráter sutil e inconsciente. O objetivo do artigo é examinar as práticas de violência simbólica da cultura de dominação masculina de acordo com a estrutura da contingência cultural de três termos, constituída por contexto, práticas e consequências culturais. Foram examinadas práticas como: divisão de espaços e atividades entre gêneros, inferiorização da feminilidade, conformação a padrões de estética e práticas sexuais voltados à fruição masculina. O contexto dessas práticas é produto do controle social exercido pelas agências controladoras, que difundem práticas de violência simbólica por meio do reforçamento diferencial e controle ético, propiciando aos homens um maior controle e acesso a importantes reforçadores sociais. As práticas de violência simbólica são mantidas por consequências favoráveis à sobrevivência da cultura de dominação masculina, beneficiando alguns grupos comandados majoritariamente por homens (agências controladoras) pela manutenção de poder e privilégios masculinos.
