The hydrogeological heritage should include all water manifestations (springs, spas, salines and thermal springs) where groundwater has some scientifical cultural and historical singularities. Some points catalogued share specific characteristics, but their fragility in front of antropical activities can deteriorate and to lose this natural, cultural and historical legacy. A selection of 54 water points has been made, which form the basic hydrogeological heritage of the Murcia region. This includes 14 thermal and cold baths, 7 popular springs, 15 mineral water points and 18 geothermic water points.
Despite some private and public protective initiatives (actions) the general use of water points for commercial and recreational purposes still casts a certain risk of destruction and irreparable harm to these important heritage values.
