  • The description of volcanic activity by early Spanish chronicles is poorly known in part by theunpublishment of some of their Natural Histories during centuries. Nevertheless, the detailed description of the volcanic phenomena and its associated damage make these chronicles invaluablefor historical volcanology. In this work is reported chronicles on the activity of some american volcanoes during XVI century: hawaiian activity (lava lake) at Masaya (Nicaragua) during 1525-1551,lahars induced by intense rainfall in 1541 at Agua volcano (Guatemala), and the violent pi in ¡aneruption of Huaynaputina volcano (Perú) during 1600
