    En este trabajo se ha analizado la trayectoria vital y militar del tenientegeneral de la Armada Gabriel Císcar y Císcar. Partiendo fundamentalmente delos documentos de su expediente personal sito en el Archivo General de laMarina Álvaro de Bazán, se han expuesto, por un lado, los hitos más relevantesde su servicio en la Armada, donde destacó por su contribución académicamediante la elaboración de diferentes tratados, manuales o planes de estudios,algunos de ellos vigentes durante buena parte del siglo XIX. Por otro lado, seestudia su compromiso político, marcado por un liberalismo moderado enaquellos convulsos años que transcurren entre la invasión napoleónica y losmomentos posteriores al Trienio Liberal, finalizando con su refugio en Gibraltary el depósito de sus restos mortales, varias décadas más tarde, en el Panteón deMarinos Ilustres.

    This work analyses the life and military career of the Lieutenant Generalof the Armada Gabriel Císcar y Císcar. Starting primarily with the documentsfrom his personal records housed in the Álvaro de Bazán General Archive of the Marine, it reveals the major land marks of his service with the Armada,where he distinguished himself through his academic contributions, drafting anumber of treatises, manuals and study plans, some of which remained inforce for much of the 19th century. There is also a study of his politicalcommitment, marked by a moderate liberalism in those turbulent times betwe-en the Napoleonic invasion and the period after the Liberal Triennium, andculminating in his refuge in Gibraltar and, some decades later, the transfer ofhis mortal remains to the Pantheon of Illustrious Mariners
