La Edad Media influyó en el desarrollo territorial, jurídico y humano de toda la península ibérica. El señorío de Valdecorneja surge como un elemento que une diversos territorios estratégicamente ubicados entre las dos submesetas.
El enorme entramado constructivo y defensivo que sobrevive a lo largo de los siglos estaba constituido por individuos sujetos a Derecho. Ese Derecho Militar fue creado por distintas fuentes jurídicas que se complementaron tanto por su origen como por su ejecución práctica. El Derecho Administrativo Castrense fue estableció las premisas mediante las que se distinguió a un elemento humano militar y en campaña de una mera horda de hombres salvajes armados. La concepción jurídico-militar origina la división de empleos y oficios dentro del ámbito castrense. Esa necesidad humana transformada en derecho, genera en el plano práctico de la realidad administrativa de Valdecorneja, la formación de unidades de combatientes a caballo y a pie. El empleo de las mismas como elemento defensivo y ofensivo del territorio determinó una parte importante de la historia medieval hispana.

The Middle Ages influenced the territorial, legal and human development of the entire Iberian Peninsula. The manor of Valdecorneja emerges as an element that unites diverse territories strategically located between the two plateaus. The enormous constructive and defensive framework that survives over the centuries was constituted by individuals subject to Law. That Military Law was created by different legal sources that were complemented both by their origin and by their practical execution. Military Administrative Law was the one that established the premises by which a military and campaigning human element was distinguished from a mere band of armed wild men. The legal-military conception originates the division of jobs and functions within the military sphere. That human need transformed into law, originates in the practical level of the administrative reality of Valdecorneja, the formation of combatant units on horseback and on foot. The use of them as a defensive and offensive element of the territory, determined an important part of Hispanic medieval history
