Resumen de Educational Television — A Phoenix in Latin America?
This article reviews the progress of educational television systems on the Latin American continent. Three types of system are identified, one a direct import of the European or North American models of conventional schools ETV and two that have been home grown. Three phases of development are identified for most ETV systems — rapid expansion, decline and (for those that survive the second phase) a slow recovery. In general, the home‐grown models have been more successful in reaching this third phase. Nevertheless ETV is still a long way from solving the problems that it set out to tackle.
