Resumen de Computer‐Based Learning ‐ the Way Ahead

R.K. Morrison

  • Because the terminology is confusing, computer‐based learning (CBL) is used as a generic term. The problems of innovation and implementation are identified, associated with costs. The relationship between CBL materials, their design, access to CBL and student interaction, are used as a basis for considering the problem o£ the instructor in implementing CBL. Is CBL only in a transitional stage, or is it a new medium to be integrated with existing media? Experience of the past 20 years of educational technology is used to raise two key questions followed by three further questions about effectiveness. The article concludes by saying that CBL should be employed where it is needed rather than as an expensive substitute for cheaper methods.
