    El Transhumanismo es un paradigma que irrumpe en el siglo XXI proponiendo el mejoramiento de nuestra especie a través de la tecnología. Este movimiento surgido en el hemisferio norte, intenta modificar a los seres humanos utilizando métodos que van desde la biotecnología hasta la manipulación genética, aduciendo que “debemos” mejorarnos para el bien de las generaciones venideras, sin especificar cómo será el resultado de dicha transformación que nos convertiría en seres diferentes: en posthumanos. Si bien existe en nosotros una tendencia que nos inclina a buscar el modo de superar las limitaciones propias de nuestra condición y alcanzar la felicidad, el Transhumanismo propone ir más allá: alargar la vida terrena hasta límites insospechados y crear nuevas capacidades físicas y mentales. Por su parte, los Bioconservadores se oponen a esta ideología y niegan que tenga un sustento divino como se alega, viéndola más cercana al utilitarismo. Son, en general, pensadores que exigen prudencia y un estudio ético detallado de las consecuencias que surgirían al modificar la esencia humana.

    Transhumanism is a paradigm that bursts into the 21st century proposing the enhancement of our species through technology. This movement, born in the northern hemisphere, tries to modify human beings using methods that range from biotechnology to genetic manipulation, arguing that we "must" improve ourselves for the good of future generations, without specifying how the result of this transformation will be, in spite it would turn us into different beings: post-humans. Although we have a tendency that inclines us to find a way to overcome the limitations of our condition and achieve happiness, Trans-humanism proposes to go further: lengthening earthly life to unsuspected limits and creating new physical and mental abilities. On the other hand, those who oppose this ideology are called Bio conservatives and deny that it has a divine sustenance as they allege, seeing it closer to utilitarianism. These people are, in general, thinkers who demand prudence and a detailed study of the ethic consequences that would arise when modifying the human essence.
