El Coronavirus llegó a Chile en medio de una aguda crisis social y política que contribuye a la irrelevancia de lo religioso en el país. La cautela de la autoridad estatal se ha encontrado con líderes religiosos que han extremado las medidas. Luego de seis meses de estado de excepción constitucional, recién se reanudan las ceremonias litúrgicas con similares disposiciones a otros lugares. La ausencia de debate respecto de la dimensión espiritual de la persona en medio de la pandemia, parece concentrar lo religioso en la ayuda social que puede prestar en tiempos de crisis.

The Coronavirus arrived in Chile in the midst of an acute social and political crisis that contributes to the irrelevance of religion in the country. The caution of the state authority has met with religious leaders who have taken extreme measures. After six months of constitutional state of exception, the liturgical ceremonies have just resumed with similar provisions to other places. The absence of debate regarding the spiritual dimension of the person in the midst of the pandemic, seems to concentrate the religious in the social help that can be provided in times of crisis.
