    El presente artículo aborda la figura del artista prieguense Antonio Povedano, de quien se está celebrando el centenario de su nacimiento. Al hilo de tal efeméride y de la revisión que de su trayectoria y obra se está llevando a cabo en los últimos tiempos, se pretende contextualizar e insertar su producción pictórica en el debate entre tradición y modernidad, consustancial al arte español de la se-gunda mitad del siglo XX y primeros años del XXI. Se analizan pues las diferentes etapas y principales recursos iconográficos de su carrera, poniéndose de relieve su capacidad para hallar la renovación estética en la tradición de su tierra de origen.

    This paper approaches the figure of Priego’s artist Antonio Povedano, of whose birth we are ce-lebrating the centenary. With regard to this ephemeris and the revision of his career and work that it has been carried out in recent times, it is claimed to contextualize and include his pictorial produc-tion inside the tradition and modernity debate inherent in the Spanish art of the second half of the 20th century and the beggining of the 21st century. It’s analyzed therefore the different stages and main iconographic resources from his career, focusing in his capacity to find out the aesthetic renewal in the tradition of his homeland.
