Resumen de Colección de botijas y botijuelas ("Spanish Oliver Jar" o "anforetas") procedentes de la ermita de San José (Elorrio, Bizkaia)

  Recoge este trabajo el estudio efectuado sobre diversas piezas cerámicas que, procedentes de la ermita de San José (Elorrio, Bizkaia), conforman el lote más importante de estas características descubierto hasta el presente en el País Vasco. Conocidas en la bibliografía anglosajona como "Spanish oliver jar" y en la bibliografía peninsular como "anforetas" o "anforiñas", han venido siendo encuadradas en una amplia cronología que transcurre desde el siglo XVI al siglo XVIlI cuanto menos, discutiéndose también su posible funcionalidad. Las páginas de este artículo proponen su denominación tal y como se las conoce en la documentación de la época -"botijas" y "botijuelas"-, defienden su funcionalidad para diversos menesteres -en este caso para servir de drenaje al subsuelo de una ermita rural- e intentan una aproximación cronológica que, para este caso concreto, ha de circunscribirse en torno a la primera mitad del siglo XVIII y, en cualquier caso, en fechas anteriores a 1772, año en el que se reedifica la ermita.

  This work is the study of severa! pottery items from the hermitage os Saint Joseph (Elorrio, Bizkaia) that form the most important set of these characteristics discovered until nowadays in the Basque Country.Known in the Anglosaxon bibliography as "Spanish olive jars" and in the Spanish one as "anforetas" o "anforiñas" have been being located in a wida chronological range that goes from the XVIth. century to, at least, the XVIIIth. century, being also questioned about their uses. This article propases their denomination as they are know in the contemporary records -"botijas" and "botijuelas"- defends their use for severa! purposes -in this case to be used as part of the drainage system underneath a rural hermitage- and tries to give a chronological approach that, in this particular case, has to be around the first half of the XVIIlth. century and, in any case, previous to 1772, when the hermitage was rebuilt.

  Elorrioko San Jose izeneko baselizan aurkitutako keramika ontzi multzo bat -Euskal Herrian orain arte ezagutu izan den garrantzitsuena- aztertzen da lantxo honetan. Keramika hauetaz hainbat gauza eztabaidatu izan da bibliografian, merezi duten izenaren inguruan batzuetan, izan duten betekizunaren inguruan besteetan edota, azkenik, beraiei dagokien kronologiaren inguruan. Hiru arazo hauek ardatzat hartuz, artikulu honetan proposatzen dena zera da: keramika hauek gaztelaniar dokumentuetan agertzen diren izenekin -"botijas" eta "botijuelas"- izendatu behar direla; hainbat betekizun ezberdin izan zutela defendituz, gure kasu honetan San Jose ermitako lurpeko ur geldiari bidea emateko erabiliak izan zirela; eta, datari dagokionez, baseliza berreraikitu baino pixkat lehenagokoak direla.
