    En el presente artículo se analiza la biografía de Pirro contenida en las Vidas Paralelas de Plutarco, en lo concerniente a las relaciones que este rey del Épiro presenta respecto a Aquiles. Por tanto, se tiene presente tanto la tradición helenística como las pretensiones prohelenistas del autor, propias de los griegos de la segunda sofística. Por ello, se estudian los cultos a la figura del pélida que aún sobrevivían en tiempos de Plutarco, los constantes paralelos indirectos que Plutarco esboza entre uno y otro personaje, así como la intención manifiesta por parte de Pirro de imitar a los antiguos héroes de la Tróade que lucharon en Ilión.

    This article analyzes the biography of Pyrrhus contained in the Parallel Lives of Plutarch, regarding the relation between this king of Epirus and Achilles. Both the Hellenistic tradition and the typical pro-Hellenistic claims of the author and the Greeks of the second sophistry have been taken into account. The above, bearing in mind the cult to the figure of the Pelides that still survived in Plutarch's time, the constant indirect parallels that Plutarch outlines between one character and the other, as well as the manifest intention of Pyrrhus to imitate the ancient heroes of Troy who fought at Ilion.
