    El sexting es un fenómeno relativamente reciente a medida que las TIC han ganado peso en la cotidianidad social. Su fenomenología es rica y divergente según el caso, dado el gran número de variables y conductas que intervienen en su producción, aunque a grosso modo, se han identificado varios factores que son comunes a todas ellas. Este fenómeno se puede dar en cualquier edad, pero es especialmente prevalente en la adolescencia tardía y la adultez temprana. Para su realización se suelen emplear las redes sociales, tanto generales como de contactos. La problemática que rodea al sexting recae sobre las características y condiciones de los usuarios que suelen realizar el mismo, y debido a ambos factores, a la facilidad de las partes para victimizar o ser victimizado por medio de otras conductas penalmente tipificadas como el ciberbullying.

    Sexting is a relatively recent phenomenon as ICTs have gained weight in everyday social life. Its phenomenology is rich and divergent depending on the case, given the large number of variables and behaviors that intervene in its production, although roughly, several factors have been identified that are common to all of them. This phenomenon can occur at any age, but it is especially prevalent in late adolescence and early adulthood. For its realization, social networks are usually used, both general and contact. The problems surrounding sexting fall on the characteristics and conditions of the users who usually perform it, and due to both factors, the ease of the parties to victimize or be victimized through other criminally typified behaviors such as cyberbullying, grooming or the crimes of harassment, violation of privacy, intimacy and honor, among others.
