This paper analyses a Latin poem by Giuseppe Berneri (1637-1701). The verses describe the dialect of the "romaneschi" (young commoners of Rome) through lexical and syntactic examples that have apparently not previously been addressed in detail by scholars. However, evidence for them can be found in other works by Berneri as well as in "Romanesco" literature in general. The analysis shows an interesting connection between the Latin text and Berneri's statements in the introduction to "Meo Patacca".
