Resumen de Osteonecrosis de los maxilares relacionada a medicamentos (bisfosfonatos) en el Postgrado de Cirugía Bucal UCV, período 2005-2019:: Serie de casos

  INTRODUCCIÓN: Los bisfosfonatos son potentes inhibidores de los osteoclastos que, por interacción entre ellos, producen una marcada disminución de la reabsorción ósea. En el 2003 fue reportado el primer caso de osteonecrosis de los maxilares (ONM) como efecto secundario, asociado al uso de estos fármacos. En la actualidad se ha reportado con mayor frecuencia la presencia de ONMM, que hace necesario un seguimiento epidemiológico, que permita al clínico diagnosticar y tratar esta condición con procedimientos más exitosos. OBJETIVO: Reportar una serie de casos de pacientes con diagnóstico de Osteonecrosis de los Maxilares relacionada a Medicamentos (ONMM), bajo tratamiento con bisfosfonatos, que asistieron al Servicio del Postgrado de Cirugía Bucal de la U.C.V, durante el período comprendido entre 2005-2019. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se describe una serie de casos de ONMM en el Servicio del Postgrado de Cirugía Bucal de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, revisando los registros clínicos de 161 pacientes según: género, edad, patología asociada, vía y tiempo de administración, tipo de medicamento y presencia de ONM asociada a ingesta de bisfosfonatos, en el período comprendido entre 2005-2019. CONCLUSIÓN: La ONMM ha sido relacionada al uso de diferentes medicamentos, entre ellos los más comunes son los bisfosfonatos. El presente estudio representa una contribución en la data regional, en cuanto a la relación de esta entidad con la ingesta de bisfosfonatos.

  INTRODUCTION: Bisphosphonates are potent inhibitors of osteoclasts, their interaction produce a marked decrease in bone resorption. In 2003 was reported the first case of osteonecrosis of the jaw (NMO) a side effect associated with the use of these drugs. In present most frequently reported the presence of ONMM, which necessitates an epidemiological monitoring, which allows the clinician diagnose and treat this condition more successful procedures. OBJECTIVE: To report a series of cases of patients diagnosed with Medication related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ), under treatment with bisphosphonates, who attended the Postgraduate Service of Oral Surgery of the U.C.V, during the period between 2005-2019. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A series of MRONJ cases is described in the Postgraduate Service of Oral Surgery of the Central University of Venezuela, reviewing the clinical records of 161 patients according to: gender, age, associated pathology, route and time of administration, type of medication and presence of ONM associated with ingestion of bisphosphonates, in the period between 2005-2019. CONCLUSION: The MRONJ has been related to the use of different medications, among them the most common are bisphosphonates. The present study represents a contribution in the regional data, regarding the relationship of this entity with the intake of bisphosphonates.
