The aim of this work is to be able to determine the natural or induced origin by sands added of the beach of Mogan in Gran Canaria island. Although it doesn't exist historical record of these spills and the beach is integrated in the sedimentary environment; its formation can be originated by added sands. The mineralogical composition and origin of the grains were determined using X-ray diffraction and a petrographic analysis. This work displays a simple way to determine if the formation of the beach has been induced and has allowed us to extract conclusions about the dinamic behaviour of the grains. This previous study has very importance for any work of oceanographic engineering in a littoral zone.
