The numerical expressions proposed by Darros de Matos (1993), relating the shape of a normal fault and the shape of the sedimentary horizons in its hanging wall, can be used not just for 10 kmscale but for hundreds of meters scale when the properties of the rocks, such as early cementation, protect them against the deformation by compactation. The Jurassic limestones of the Betic Cordillera can be a good example if they have been poorly deformed by the cenozoic compressive deformation.
