  • Resumen
    • The travertine deposit of Los Cristos is located on the western slope of the Barranco de Azuaje, to 375 m above sea level. Three types of carbonates have been observed: porous with abundant flora impressions, stalactitic and banded. The precipitated crysts are essentially calcite, sparitic and in lower amount micritic, and their crystallization was eminently inorganic. Chemical analyses show CaO values between 53.24% and 54.81%, and of MgO between 0.3% and 1.1%. Stable isotope analyses show data of 8 13C PDB ranging between 5.7 and 10.39%o, those of 8 180 PDB between -3 and -6.21 %o and those of 818 OS MOW between 24.5 and 27.80%o. C l 4 datations of incrusted snails in the travertine gave Holocene age (7.610 ± 60 years BP and 4.880± 60 years BP). Finally, we emphasize the presence of abundant flora impressions of Dracaena draco (L.) L. and other taxons in relation to Laurisilva and Mediterranean forests.
