  • Resumen
    • The outcrops of the Sierra de Albarracín (Northeast Spain) allow a precise reconstruction of a shallow carbonate ramp, developed at the late Kimmeridgian in western marginal areas of the Iberian Basin. The sedimentary record shows a hierarchical sequential organization, which strongly suggests the imprint of sea-level changes of different frequencies. A medium-scale sequence includes four small-scale Sequences A-D, which have variable thickness (from 3 to 21 m). These are interpreted to be developed in tune with 100 ky eccentricity cycle. Sequence C is the thicker sequence, including coral-microbial reefs (pinnacles up to 16 m in height). The average amplitude of the sealevel fluctuations induced by the insolation changes would range from 8 to 10 m. The signature of the precession cycle is only locally indicated by the existence of five elementary sequences in some of the small-scale sequences.
