  Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, fundador de uno de los movimientos republicanos más importantes de la España del primer tercio del siglo XX, fue elevado en vida a la categoría de héroe y símbolo del republicanismo. El gran novelista, periodista y político, utilizó ese carisma para lanzar un feroz ataque contra la monarquía de Alfonso XIII y contra la Dictadura de Primo de Rivera a partir de 1923. Lo hizo con la ayuda de su secretario Carlos Esplá y a través de la prensa y los folletos sarcásticos. La influencia de estos papeles contribuyó, a su vez, a la glorificación republicana de Blasco tras la proclamación de la Segunda República Española

  Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, founder of one of the most important Republican movements of the Spain of the first third of the 20th century, was high stakes to the status of hero and symbol of republicanism. The great novelist, journalist and politician, used that charism to launch a fierce attack against the monarchy of Alfonso XIII and the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera from 1923. He did it with the help of his Secretary Carlos Esplá and through the press and sarcastic pamphlets. The influence of these roles contributed, in turn, to the Republican glorification of Blasco after the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic.
