    En el año 2002, el entonces denominado Instituto del Patrimonio Histórico Español recibió un conjunto de documentos, fotografías y publicaciones que había sido conservado en México por el que fuera presidente de la Junta de Incautación, Salvamento y Protección del Tesoro Artístico en Madrid durante la Guerra Civil, don Roberto Fernández Balbuena. La generosa donación fue entregada por su hija, Guadalupe Fernández Gascón, como aportación para el desarrollo del proyecto expositivo «Arte Protegido. Memoria del Junta del Tesoro Artístico durante la Guerra Civil», que tuvo lugar en el Museo Nacional del Prado en la primavera del año siguiente. El artículo rememora la figura y labor de Roberto Fernández Balbuena, y describe tanto las características de los documentos que componen la donación, como la metodología empleada en el reciente tratamiento archivístico dado a dicho fondo, para facilitar el acceso al mismo en la Web del Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España (IPCE).

    In 2002, the then Spanish Institute of Historical Heritage received a set of documents, photographs and publications that had been kept in Mexico by the former President of the Spanish Civil War Board of Seizure, Salvage and Protection of Artistic Treasures, Mr Roberto Fernández Balbuena. The generous donation was presented by his daughter, Guadalupe Fernández Gascón, as a contribution to the development of the exhibition Protected Art. Memory of the Artistic Treasures Board during the Civil War, which took place at the Prado National Museum in the spring of the following year. The article recalls the figure and work of Roberto Fernández Balbuena, describing both the characteristics of the documents comprising the donation, and the methodology employed in the recent archive treatment given to the fund in order to facilitate access to the website of the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE).
