Resumen de Cómo aumentar la motivación en un laboratorio de química de primer curso

  Uno de los problemas que nos encontramos en los primeros cursos de Ingeniería es la falta de conocimientos de Química y destreza manual en el laboratorio. Esto junto con el poco interés que despierta la Química en los alumnos dificulta su enseñanza, Por ello, durante estos dos años se ha realizado una experiencia innovadora mostrando un vídeo realizado por los profe- sores sobre dos prácticas para ver si mejoraba su aprendizaje. El primer año fue visualizado por los alumnos en su casa y el segundo se ha visto antes de entrar al laboratorio para garantizar que quienes debían verlo efectivamente lo hacían, favoreciendo la marcha del laboratorio. Presentamos una comparación de ambas experiencias, que muestra cómo la visualización del vídeo incrementa los conocimientos previos delos alumnos. Sin embargo, los estudiantes sin acceso a dicho recurso obtienen mayor ganancia e incrementan sus puntuaciones finales. Asimismo, se encuentran diferencias por curso académico.

  One problem detected in the first courses of engineering studies is the lack of chemistry knowledge and manual skill in the laboratory. These facts together with the little interest the students show towards chemistry, makes its teaching difficult 'l‘herefore, during these two last years an innovative experience has been developed in order to try to increase their learning, A video, developed by the teachers, about two laboratory experiences was presented to the students. The first year the video was watched at home. The second year they saw it before entering the lab to ensure that all students who should had actually seen it and avoid difficulties. Results show that the previous display of the video increases the initial academic achievement of these students. Nevertheless, those who had not seen it increase their marks, attaining a higher academic achievement after the lab experience. Differenccs between academic years have also been found.
