    La noción de género viene recibiendo diversas significaciones en el campo político. El presente artículo busca contribuir para la comprensión de cómo esta palabra viene siendo resignificada en la Cámara de diputados de Brasil. Queremos explorar qué significaciones son atribuidas a esta palabra y con qué objetivo. Para ello, analizamos los recursos lingüísticos y las estrategias valorativas utilizados por los diputados en sus discursos en el periodo preelectoral de 2017 hasta junio de 2019. El enfoque adoptado se sustenta en un marco teórico del análisis del discurso (Fairclough, 2000a; 2000b; 2001; 2003) que engloba la Teoría de la Valoración (Martin 2001; White 2001; Martin y White 2005) y la representación de actores sociales (van Dijk 1999; van Leeuwen 2007). Nos interesa responder a las siguientes preguntas de investigación: 1) ¿qué significaciones son atribuidas a la noción de género? y 2) ¿cuáles son las herramientas lingüísticas y valorativos utilizadas por los oradores para construir argumentos que legitiman al grupo interno (nosotros) y deslegitiman al grupo externo (ellos)? Argumentamos que la noción de género adquiere diferentes significados, dependiendo del alineamiento ideológico del orador y que, por lo tanto, es un significado en disputa.

    The word gender has been receiving various meanings in the political arena. This article seeks to contribute to the understanding of how this word has been re-signified in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. We want to explore what meanings are attributed to the word and with what objective. To this end, we analyze the linguistic resources and the evaluation strategies used by the deputies in their speeches, during the pre-electoral period of 2017 until June, 2019. The approach adopted is based on a theoretical framework of discourse analysis (Fairclough, 2000a; 2000b; 2001; 2003) that encompasses Appraisal Theory (Martin 2001; White 2001; Martin and White 2005) and the representation of social actors (van Dijk 1999; van Leeuwen 2007). We are interested in answering the following research questions: 1) what meanings are attributed to the notion of gender? and 2) what are the linguistic and valuation tools used by the deputies to construct arguments that legitimize the internal group (us) and delegitimize the external group (them)? We argue that the notion of gender acquires different meanings, depending on the ideological alignment of the speaker and that, therefore, it is a disputed meaning.
