La supercomputación es actualmente una herramienta indispensable para el desarrollo científico y tecnológico. Como tecnología puntera puede servir como indicador de este nivel de desarrollo y constituye por tanto una herramienta diplomática importante. Las aplicaciones en las que se puede utilizar son muy diversas y, entre ellas, se incluyen usos como el modelado y desarrollo de armamento. EE.UU y China han emitido normativas este año que limitan la exportación de esta tecnología que pueden considerarse como un claro mensaje de la importancia que estos gobiernos otorgan a estas tecnologías.

Curently High Power Computing is a tool for scientific and technologic development. As a technology it may serve as an indicator of the development level and constitutes in this sense an important diplomatic tool. Applications where it may be used are very diverse and, among them, uses such us the modeling and development of armament are included. US and China have published norms limiting the export of this technology this year that can be considered as a clear message of the importance this technologies pose to the governments.
