    El profundo cambio en nuestro mundo globalizado afecta seriamente a nuestra civilización y por tanto a España y sus instituciones, incluyendo las Fuerzas Armadas. Los conceptos de paz y guerra se transforman y se reflexiona sobre su naturaleza. Los militares también buscan el dar un sentido y fundamento ético a su profesión; y en ese esfuerzo parece necesario intentar, desde la razón, profundizar en la dureza extrema de la guerra y en los valores que sustentan al militar llamado a ejercerla. Esta cuestión básica de la eticidad de la conducta profesional militar, es decir de la reflexión ética sobre las justificaciones morales para el ejercicio de la actividad militar, ha de tener en cuenta a la hora de abordarla que la función esencial y principal naturaleza de la función militar es el combate letal en el que se produce destrucción y muerte.

    The profound change in our globalized world, affects seriously our civilization, and therefore, to Spain and its institutions, including the Armed Forces. The concepts of peace and war transformed themselves and it reflects on its nature. The military also seek to give meaning and ethical foundation to his profession; and in that effort seems necessary to try to understand the extreme hardness of the war, and so, the values that underpin the military called to exercise it. This basic morality question of military professional behavior, an ethical reflection on the moral justifications for the exercise of military activity, must take into account that the essential function and principal nature of the military function is lethal combat, in which destruction and death occurs.
