    Este trabajo ofrece un avance de la investigación sobre el conflicto por el río Atuel, entre las provincias de La Pampa y Mendoza, en Argentina. El objetivo es, a través de la metodología cualitativa y la lectura crítica de las fuentes recolectadas hasta el momento, elaborar una periodización del ciclo hidro-social del río Atuel para estudiar los cambios experimentados hasta la actualidad. Asimismo, se identifican y analizan las inquietudes de los actores que participan e intervienen en el conflicto. Como resultado, se identificaron cuatro períodos a lo largo de los tres siglos del estudio (desde el XIX hasta el XXI). En cada uno de ellos se reconocieron diversos actores que establecieron y redefinieron, a través del tiempo, relaciones de poder en torno al acceso al agua. Estas relaciones de poder se hacen evidentes en el último periodo, en el que se presentan nuevas complejidades como el impulso de prácticas extractivas.

    This work offers a preview of the research on the conflict over the Atuel River, between the provinces of La Pampa and Mendoza, in Argentina. The aim is, through qualitative methodology and a critical reading of the sources collected so far, to elaborate a periodization of the hydro-social cycle of the Atuel River in order to study the changes experienced so far. Likewise, the concerns of the actors who participate and intervene in the conflict are identified and analysed. As a result, four periods were identified throughout the three centuries of the study (from the 19th to the 21st century). In each of these periods, different actors were recognised who established and redefined, over time, power relationships around access to water. These power relations have become evident in the last period, in which new complexities have arisen, such as the promotion of extractive practices.
