    The aim of this note is to make known a recently published manual of early Christian archaeologyin the collection of Oxford Handbooks from the university of the same name. Edited by DavidK. Pettegrew, William R. Caraher and Thomas W. Davis, it contains 34 chapters entrusted toprominent specialists from leading universities, particularly in the Anglo-Saxon world. After astate of the question, the work is divided into four parts: the first, on the archaeology of ancientChristianity; the second, on sacred space and mortuary contexts; the third on art and artifacts incontext; and the fourth, the longest, is a journey – in chapters of equal length – throughout thewhole geographical area of eastern and western Christianity, illustrated with maps and accompaniedby an up-to-date bibliography. This is a good tool for the study of the subject in universitycourses.

    L’objectiu d’aquesta nota és donar a conèixer un manual d’arqueologia cristiana publicat recentmentper la col·lecció Oxford Handbooks de la universitat homònima. Està editat pels professors David K.Pettegrew, William R. Caraher i Thomas W. Davis i consta de 34 capítols encarregats a especialistesde primera línia de les principals universitats, especialment del mon anglosaxó. Després d’un estat dela qüestió, l’obra està estructurat en quatre parts: una primera sobre l’arqueologia del cristianismeantic; la segona sobre l’espai sagrat i els contextos funeraris; la tercera sobre art i artefactes en context;i la quarta, i més extensa, un recorregut sintètic —en capítols d’extensió paritària— per tota lageografia del cristianisme d’orient a occident, il·lustrada amb mapes i acompanyada d’un recull bibliogràficactualitzat. Constitueix una bona eina per a l’estudi de la matèria en els ensenyaments universitaris.
