    Pierre Hadot has left a deep imprint of humanity and wisdom on his readers and on scholars of philosophy, whether ancient or modern. He was undoubtedly one of the great French philosophers of the twentieth century, known and translated all over the world. The text looked at here represents a lecture given at the Collège de France, where he had been appointed professor, on the occasion of a tribute paid to him by his friends. In the text we highlight how in some of Hadot’s writings, especially in his later ones, his "testament" can be read between the lines: a “testament” made in the form of aconfession and a recommendation arising from a deep conviction, acquired by examining his own lifeevery day in relation to the good. This testament is closely related to Hadot’s understanding of philosophyas a way of life.

    Pierre Hadot ha deixat una petjada profunda d'humanitat i saviesa en els seus lectors i en els estudiosos de la filosofia antiga i la de tots els temps. Fou, sens dubte, un dels grans filòsofs francesos del segle XX, conegut i traduït arreu del món. El present text correspon a una conferència tinguda al Collège de Françe—ell n'era catedràtic— en ocasió d'un l'homenatge fet a la seva persona pels seus amics. En el text posem en relleu com en alguns textos de Pierre Hadot, sobretot en els darrers, podem llegir entre línies el seu «testament»; un «testament» fet en forma de confessió i d'una recomanació que sorgeix d'una convicció profunda adquirida per haver examinat cada dia la seva vida en relació amb el bé. Aquest testament està íntegrament relacionat amb la comprensió de la filosofia com a manera de viure.
