L’article vol veure com l’elecció sacerdotal passa a aparèixer al Pentateuc (i més endavant a la literaturadels testaments) com una cosa deguda als mèrits dels levites/sacerdots que s’inicien en unaguerra terrible en nom del zel de Déu, per obtenir el sacerdoci. Les pàgines següents revisen lesvaloracions de J. Kugel (HTR 85/1 [1992] 1-34) sobre el paper de Levi com a sacerdot al TestLev 5-7vers Gn 34. L’article ofereix, crec, una millor comprensió sobre la qüestió de la circumcisió bíblica,sobretot com es reflecteix a Jubileus, Filó d’Alexandria i Judit. A més, l’article posa especial atencióen el treball midràixic realitzat a TestLev 5-7.

The article aims to see how the priestly election came to figure in the Pentateuch (and later on in the literature of the testaments) as something due to the merits of the Levites/priests, who engage in a fierce war in the name of zeal for God in order to obtain the priesthood. The following pages reviewthe assessment of J. Kugel (HTR 85/1 [1992] 1-34) on the role of Levi as a priest in TestLev 5-7 versus Gn 34.
